International Social Survey Programme: Role of Government I-IV ADD ON (ISSP 1985-1990-1996-2006)

DOI

The release of the cumulated ISSP “Role of Government” modules for theyears 1985, 1990, 1996 and 2006 consists of two separate datasets:ZA4747 and ZA4748. This documentation deals with the supplementarydataset ZA4748. It contains all those, mainly national-specificbackground variables that belong to the current ISSP standard, butcould not be cumulated for various reasons. The variables, however, canbe matched easily to the cumulated file if necessary. A comprehensiveoverview on the contents, the structure and basic coding rules of bothdata files can be found in the following guide:Guide for the ISSP ´Role of Government´ cumulation of the years 1985, 1990, 1996 and 2006The role of the government - (not-cumulated background variables of theindividual modules)Variables for all countries and modules if available: country-specificeducation and degree; country-specific party affiliation;country-specific party voted for in last election, size ofcommunity (country-specific); country-specific occupation (respondent aswell as partner); earnings of respondent (country specific); familyincome (country-specific); country of origin or ethnic groupaffiliation (country-specific); type of community: urban-rural area.Single variables: working for private or public sector or self-employed1985; self-placement on a top-bottom scale 2006, region Israel 2006;administrative mode of data-collection 2006.
