Old age has come to occupy a major part of an individual’s life and it constitutes a reality to which society must adapt. The “Ageing as Future” questionnaire subproject investigates how individuals perceive, construe, and prepare for their old age and ageing. The major topics of the project center around several interrelated themes: views on ageing, preparation for old age, age discrimination, fourth age, and time management in old age. ). The project was supported by the VolkswagenStiftung since 2012. The project has a longitudinal and international format, with data collection in five different countries (Germany, USA, Hong Kong, Czech Republic, and Taiwan), which allows us to study and compare processes of ageing. Data collection for the “Ageing as Future” questionnaire subproject started in 2009 (T1) spanning 10-years. During this first wave, data was obtained only from German samples. The second wave of data collection (T2) took place in 2014 with the inclusion of samples from the USA and Hong Kong. In 2019, the third wave of data collection was carried out with the inclusion of samples from Czech Republic and Taiwan.
