The survey collects relevant information about respondents’ financial literacy, financial inclusion and socio-demographics. Of particular interest are the financial knowledge, financial behaviour and financial attitudes as well as awareness and holding of financial products of adults in Germany. The questionnaire consists of 40 questions and covers e.g. topics such as keeping track of finances, making-ends-meet and longer-term financial planning. Furthermore, numeracy skills within a financial context and basic knowledge of financial concepts (e.g. time-value of money, compound interest or diversification) are tested.
The survey is coordinated by the OECD International Network on Financial Education (INFE) and was developed to provide internationally comparable data on financial literacy and financial inclusion. The second wave was carried out in 2016, and in total 1001 telephone interviews were conducted via random digit dialling by the Deutsche Bundesbank in cooperation with the market research institute GfK. The anonymized micro data is available as a Scientific Use File.
Die Befragung erhebt wichtige Informationen zur finanziellen Bildung, finanziellen Inklusion, und soziodemographischen Merkmalen der Befragten. Von besonderem Interesse sind das finanzielle Wissen, das Verhalten in finanziellen Entscheidungssituationen, die Einstellung zu Geld, sowie die Kenntnisse und Nutzung von Finanzprodukten und -dienstleistungen von Erwachsenen in Deutschland. Der Fragebogen besteht aus insgesamt 40 Fragen und deckt z.B. Themen der Haushaltsplanung, Zahlung von Rechnungen, und langfristigen Finanzplanung ab. Des Weiteren werden Rechenkenntnisse im finanziellen Kontext und das Basiswissen von finanziellen Konzepten (z.B. Zeitwert des Geldes, Zinseszins oder Diversifizierung) abgefragt.
Die Befragung wird von dem Internationalen OECD-Netzwerk zur Finanziellen Bildung (INFE) koordiniert und wurde entwickelt, um international eine vergleichbare Datenbasis zur finanziellen Bildung und finanziellen Inklusion zu schaffen. Die zweite Befragungswelle fand 2016 statt und insgesamt wurden 1001 Telefoninterviews per Zufallstelefonbefragung in Kooperation mit dem Marktforschungsinstitut GfK durchgeführt. Die anonymisierten Mikrodaten stehen als Scientific Use File zur Verfügung.
