Das Datenprodukt NEPS-SC3-ADIAB wird gemeinsam angeboten vom Institut für Arbeitsmarkt- und Berufsforschung (IAB), Nürnberg, und dem Leibniz-Institut für Bildungsverläufe (LIfBi), Bamberg. NEPS-SC3-ADIAB setzt sich zusammen aus den Befragungs- und Testdaten der Startkohorte 3 „Wege durch die Sekundarstufe I - Bildungswege von Schülerinnen und Schülern ab Klassenstufe 5“ des Nationalen Bildungspanels (NEPS) sowie den administrativen Daten des IAB. Zur Stichprobe dieser Startkohorte gehören Schülerinnen und Schüler, die im Herbst 2010 eine 5. Klasse besucht haben. Die Erstbefragung der Schülerinnen und Schüler, Lehrkräfte und Schulleitungen erfolgte von November 2010 bis Januar 2011. Die erste Elternbefragung erfolgte von Januar 2011 bis Juli 2011. Die aktuelle Version von NEPS-SC3-ADIAB enthält administrative Daten bis einschließlich 2020 und die Version 13-0-0 der NEPS Startkohorte 3. Allgemein zielt die NEPS-SC3-Studie darauf ab, die Entwicklung von Kompetenzen ab Klasse 5, sowie die Bedingungen und Voraussetzungen von Bildungsprozessen, mögliche Konsequenzen für den Bildungsverlauf sowie die Einbindung in soziale Netzwerke zu untersuchen. Dafür werden Daten zur Kompetenzentwicklung und zu Bildungsprozessen erhoben. Durch die Befragung von Lehrkräften, Eltern und Schulleitungen enthält die Studie umfassende Informationen zum familialen und schulischen Kontext. Darüber hinaus verfügt das NEPS über ein breites Fragenspektrum, das insbesondere zahlreiche biografische und soziodemografische Merkmale beinhaltet. Mithilfe von NEPS-SC3-ADIAB können beispielsweise Forschungsfragen untersucht werden, für die sehr genaue Einkommensdaten im Lebensverlauf erforderlich sind.

The data product NEPS-SC3-ADIAB is provided cooperatively by the Institute for Employment Research (IAB), Nuremberg, and the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi), Bamberg. NEPS-SC3-ADIAB consists of the survey and test data of Starting Cohort 3 "Paths Through Lower Secondary School: Educational Pathways of Students in Grade 5 and Higher" of the National Educational Panel Study (NEPS) and the administrative data of the IAB. The sample of this Starting Cohort includes students who attended a fifth grade of a general school in Germany at the time of the first survey in autumn/winter 2010. The initial survey of students, teachers and principals was conducted from November 2010 to January 2011. The first parent survey took place from January 2011 to July 2011. The current version of NEPS-SC3-ADIAB contains administrative data up to and including 2020 and version 13-0-0 of NEPS Starting Cohort 3. In general, NEPS-SC3 aims to study the development of competencies from grade five onwards as well as the conditions and prerequisites of educational processes, possible consequences for the educational trajectories and the integration into social networks. For this, data are collected on competence development and educational processes. By interviewing teachers, principals and parents, the study contains comprehensive information about the family and school environment. In addition, NEPS asks a broad range of questions, especially on numerous biographical and socio-demographic characteristics. The NEPS-SC3-ADIAB can be used to investigate research questions that, for instance, require highly accurate income data over the life course.
