DOI

The ENCOUNTER project aims to explore the experience of natural mentoring relationships among young adolescents in the EU context. The research design uses qualitative research methods, in particular phenomenological in-depth interviews and participatory visual methods (PhotoVoice), targeting child/adolescent-centred communication. ENCOUNTER will extend the research, theory and practice of mentoring for children and adolescents in the EU, Czech context. By implementing new methodological approaches in the field and a child-centred conceptualisation of the phenomenon of natural mentoring, it also contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 2030) and the current European social policy for children and youth, the EU Youth Sector Strategy 2030. Total dataset of the project consist of tree components: - Dataset of 533 qualitative questionnaires with young people 11-15 years old - Interviews with young adolescents on their experiences with natural mentoring relationships (N=50) - A Case-study - Interview with a young person and two identified mentors Primary data will be available at the end of 2024 (expected term).
