In addition, there are a few questions on smoking habits of the Austrian population. These questions are commissioned by the Federal Ministry for social administration as an important report for health policies. The impairment to health caused by smoking poses great problems for the institutions concerned with public health. Reports on the number of smokers and the attitude toward tobacco are urgently needed starting points for targeted measures against addiction.
