Attitudes towards internet security.

Topics: frequency of internet use at home; awareness of selected security problems with regard to internet usage: malicious software, phishing messages, privacy violations, unsolicited emails, children accessing inappropriate websites, botnets; assessment of the safety of transactions via the internet; measures taken to improve security: use of antivirus (including antispam and firewall) products, use of alternative security techniques, no measures taken as respondent does not feel threatened, no measures taken as antivirus (including antispam and firewall) products are too expensive, no measures taken as implementation of products is too difficult, no financial transactions over the internet, avoidance of giving out personal data on the internet, no peer-to-peer file sharing with unknown people; personally experienced security problems in the last five years: file or computer damage by malicious software, fooled by phishing, privacy violations, unsolicited emails, children accessed inappropriate websites, own computer was part of a botnet; experienced damages: loss of time, financial losses, embarrassment, loss of personal data, loss of other data; responsibility for security on the internet: users, equipment and software suppliers, internet access providers, public authorities, online service providing organisations; interest in a course on IT security.
