Role of Government II (ISSP 1996) - Czech Republic

DOI

The ISSP is a continuing annual programme of cross-national collaboration on surveys covering topics important for social science research. It brings together pre-existing social science projects and coordinates research goals, thereby adding a cross-national, cross-cultural perspective to the individual national studies. ISSP module includes: 1.The function of the goverment in the economy, distribution and redistribution. 2. Attitudes towards governmental expenditures. 3. Evalution of the power of the goverment, labour unions, and large industrial firms. 4.The function of the government in solving problems of inequality. 5. Opinions concerning taxes. 6. Level of alienation by policies towards the citizenry. 7. Inclination towards social protest and level of tolerance towards extremism. Beside the ISSP module, the questionsnaire also included a block of questions concerning levels of anomie (social frustration), questions identifying left-right and libertarian –authoritarian axes of the political spectrum, and questions concerning the crystallisation of the middle class. Demographic characteristics are in Czech-specific form.
